All water systems require a legionella risk assessment where there is a work activity. The competence of the assessor and employer's management systems are key.
A two-day course has been developed to enable learners to begin conducting legionella risk assessments of hot and cold water systems, has no pre-requisites and will cover elements on carrying out risk assessments as well as explaining hot and cold water systems.
The focus of this course is the practical advice needed for the role. The course includes some theory elements, an instructional video on completing the survey, carrying out an inspection of water storage vessels i.e. cisterns/calorifiers, review of a legionella control scheme logbook, drawing schematic diagrams and a risk assessment template which will be completed by the learners during training. All course used resources can be taken away to guide in writing documents of their own.
WS7B will soon be released onto the market and will be entitled "Legionella risk assessment of hot and cold water systems (theory)" and will be a one-day top-up course for those already experienced in legionella risk assessment or have sat the WS7 and wish to learn about BS8580-1:2019 – A code of Practice for legionella risk assessments.
